Kristina,

You're making a good point in regards to how price affects the presence (or absence) of clients' desire in a product or service.

Price has always been a tricky issue – too high and no one will buy your brand, but will desire it; too low and no one will desire your brand, but many will buy it once. That’s where good marketing materials come into play – if you want to command a high price, you have to attach emotions to your brand, something that is worth more than just the materials. The Disney example is perfect – parents aren’t paying for the Disney shirts, mugs and Mickey Mouse ears – they’re paying for the experience, which makes the marked up prices worth it. Seeing the brochures and TV commercials of a wonderful, magical experience makes it all worth it.
