Hi Mokokoma,

Thanks a lot for this great list. I already knew of some sites but I always enjoy browsing around new sites for different and inspiring information/design.

I am passionate about logo and identity design and I looked at your portfolio and really like the work you've done and the layout of your website. I would like to keep in contact on LinkedIn, since I think I can learn a lot from you. If you can add me, that be great :)

Twanet,

I'm glad I could help ;)

In regards to newspaper advertising, all I can say is that the 2 most important thing that makes or breaks an advert is how relevant is the advert to whoever will see it; targeted market and how many relevant potential clients will it reach; size of exposure.

Thank you very much, your opinion made a lot of sense, i would love to learn more about marketing, you've said a few things in your website about branding, it surely is an interesting topic.

Would you think that advertising through for instance the newspaper or a magazine would be more productive? But on the other hand, as I've heard that your adverts will take at least four weeks before one can start seeing changes in the company, and after that you have lot thousands in the time spent.

Thank you for your quick answers and the time spent. I really found your site out of pure luck ;)

Twanet,

From where I am there's no exact answer I can give in regard to your company's marketing efforts as I believe it should be tailor-made to company your company's unique needs.

Your company's goals and available resources also has to be taken into account when drafting your marketing strategy.

Going door-to-door might seem effective as you are able to knock on a lot of doors daily, but the question is out of the hundreds that you approach, how many of the companies do you find looking for your services then?

I personally would prefer a client who finds me though 'searching' for a graphic designer because that makes them a qualified lead (a potential client, since they are looking for services that I provide).

The problem that usually arises from the approach you're employing is that, you'll easily confuse movement with progress!

Presenting to 10 companies that are currently in need of your services is way better than 200 random companies who most aren't looking for your services.

One of the things I'd recommend is to have a website that showcases your portfolio.

And If you're willing to, a blog would also be beneficial as it creates an opportunity for potential clients to read your articles which will enable them to have an idea of the level of your expertise and how much clued up are you in regards to the service and/or products you're selling before they even contact you.

I highly recommend that you to invest your time (and sometimes it will require money) in understanding and learning at least the basics of Marketing and Branding.

A knowledge in those 2 disciplines will also be highly beneficial to your clients, as you'll be able to provide design solutions that takes your clients' desired brand image, intended brand promise and current marketing message into consideration.

Let me know should you require any explanation to what I just said or have further questions.
